When does the local branch meet?

Once a month, we meet for an open branch meeting where we discuss current matters and decide such things as which pubs to nominate for the Good Beer Guide, which to award a Pub of the Season and/or Pub of the Year certificate to, all done democratically and as fairly as we can.
Other topics include beer festivals, pub preservation and local pub news, which is the main source of content for the news pages of our quarterly branch magazine, Real Ale Talk.

All 8pm unless otherwise stated:-

  • Cider Pub of the Year presentation Friday 1 June 2018 18:00 West End

The West End is a great example of a welcoming, community pub, with a fine atmosphere and plenty of comfortable space. With separate lounge and tap room areas, it caters for those who fancy traditional pub games as well as those who like to chat and socialise in a homely atmosphere. Demand for decent quality, traditional cider has steadily increased alongside that for the well-kept ales, such that there are now a couple of pumps dedicated to cider. Weston's provide the award-winning 7.3% Old Rosie, with Rosie's Pig being a less potent alternative; also the delicious Perry is usually available.

  • Club of the Year presentation Friday 1 June 2018 20:30 Knowl Club

Presentation of the certificate for Club of the Year 2018. This is a fine club, very sociable, great facilities and a fine selection of beers and ciders.

  • June Branch Meeting Monday 11 June 2018 20:00 Leggers
  • Rural Social Thursday 21 June 2018 20:00 Shoulder Of Mutton

Social starting at the Shoulder of Mutton, Briestfield, then to the Woolpack at Whitley and possibly the Scarborough at Thornhill. Unfortunately the first two venues, while being very worthy, are not served by public transport.
